These pages will be added to as time allows, so please
come back and visit again. Havant in Hampshire is situated between the cities of Portsmouth to the west and Chichester to the east. The locality was inhabited in roman times and later, where with its abundance of natural springs, it was known for its parchment making. For a map of its relative location CLICK HERE. To the south is Langstone, well known for its mill and a favourite spot with walkers. Situated on the north of the channel between harbours, it is part of a designated 'Area of outstanding beauty'. There the bridge crosses to Hayling Island with views back across the harbours to the downs to the east and Portsdown Hill to the west. Hayling with its beaches is a popular south coast holiday resort. Bedhampton west of Havant has expanded, but the old part south of the B529, with its park, streams and church, still has its charm. The motorway now to the south passes east between Havant and Langstone, and on north of Emsworth to Chichester. |
