Wonderful sunny weather greeted visitors to the annual Dragonboat Festival held on Sunday 3rd August on the Westbrook Millpond.

The tide was full with some taking the opportunuty to cool off, given the prevailing hot weather. Live music played on the Quay, and the crowds cheered on their teams.

Twenty teams competed in twentyfive events, the start being parallel to the old malt house with the finish at the south west end of the pond.

The final was a close fought thing with the 'Smokey Dragons' representing the Coal Exchange, coming first, just beating the 'Shooting Stars' into second, with the 'Railway Inn' placed third.
